Hiking vacation on Lake Millstatt – hiking in Carinthia in the summer

Lake Millstatt literally lies at the foot of the mountains.  The Nockberg Mountains with the Millstatt Alpine Pasture, the Tschiernock and the mystical Mt. Mirnock border on the water with their gentle peaks (which is why they are called the Nockberg Mountains).
The terrace-shaped topography characterizes the region surrounding Lake Millstatt: the lake’s elevation is 600 meters, the high plateau is 900 meters and the Millstatt Alpine Pasture is 2,000 meters high.  
Share in this unique natural spectacle between the mountains and the lake.
Over 500 km of marked trails are positively inviting for walks, hikes and touring.  The countless springs, brooks, ponds and lakes along the trails serve as true companions.

The naturally preserved bays along the South banks of Lake Millstatt are waiting to be explored.

Legend hikes
According to legend, a powerful giant lives in the caves within Mt. Mirnock…  Our guests will be carried off into a fantasy world of noblemen, dwarfs and fairies along the exciting legendary trail.  

  • Length: 1.5 hours (easy hike)

Sound hiking
Sound hiking through the Millstatt Gorge leads visitors to a variety of interesting sound biotopes where they will hear the babbling of mountain brooks and rustling of the forest. Listen closely to the birdsong and other sounds of nature.
