From the "music weeks" in Millstatt and the "Comedy theatre" in castle Porcia, the international choir competition in Spittal to the international guitar festival "La Guitarra esencial" and many local tradition events (fairs, strudel festival; Krampus ....) - the cultural programme is extensive.

From April to October, the Bonsai museum with gardens, ponds containing Japanese koi and tea room is well worth a visit. In Castle Sommeregg, a medieval town featuring Central Europe’s biggest museum of torture, plays host to the Medieval Games and Markets every August.

The landscapes change into festive fall panels in September and October. Top-level chefs blend regional products into multi-course menus and serve them at harmonious sounds and stories about the lake. Literary salons from the 18th-20th centuries are revived at the “Culture Lounge” on Lake Millstatt.
