Hiking between Mountain and Lake
There are lots of diverse walking and hiking routes just waiting to be discovered around Lake Millstatt.
Lake Millstatt lies at the foot of the mountains and is encircled by the Nock range, particularly the Tschiernock and the mystical Mirnock, and their snow-covered peaks.
Over 500km of marked walking routes will entice you to walk, hike or, even, go snowshoeing or on a ski tour. The area around Seeboden is terraced, with the lake at 588m, the high plateau at 900m and the Millstatt pasture at 2,000m. The Goldeck cable cars, boasting panoramic views of Lake Millstatt and the Grossglockner mountain, will take you in comfort up to the walking area – the ideal starting point for family hikes.
In addition, Lover’s Walk, the Lake Millstatt mountain walks and the weekly myths and legends tour for children await you. Walks in the coves on the south bank and a ‘sound hike’, taking in the noise of the mountain streams, twittering birds and the roar of the forest are well worth a try.
